Why does a 5 gallon of liquid feel heavier than 40lbs?

The way you carry the bucket tilts your body to that side. Your body compensates by having to pull your body back to a perpendicular position. This strains your sides and arms after a while, which is why it is hard to carry a bucket for a longer period of time.

So when you normally carry the bucket your arm is pushed out from your body so the bucket doesn’t scrape your leg as you are carrying it. This further adds to the twist of your body and why it feels heavier quickly.

If you could carry the substance (oil, water, soil, feed, etc) on your back then it would be much easier to carry and you could carry it much longer distances.

How long does it take to heat up a 5 gallon bucket of water?

It depends on what you are using. If you are trying to heat it by using a fire and grate than it will take some time, perhaps 20-30 minutes.

A more effectively and quicker method is to use a bucket water heater like this one on Amazon that heats it up in a matter of minutes. Much quicker.

How much weight can a 5 gallon bucket carry?

550 lbs. This is according to the Pro-Western Plastics bucket which requires a gasket lid to reach this amount.
